Redwood Heights Real Estate
This is the area centered around 35th Avenue and Redwood Road below Highway 13. Redwood Heights got it's name because it used to be home to some of Oakland's largest Redwood trees, it's no wonder that this area used to be home to several saw mills. In fact, this area supplied much of the wood that was used to build homes in Oakland and San Francisco. The architecture is mostly English Tudor and Mediterranean, with some Crafstman Bunglalows and Mid-Century homes as well. Highway 13 is easily accessable to the North, and Interstate 580 is to the South.
As you travel up 35th Avenue and pass Macarthur Boulevard you will start to notice the large trees that line the road. This is one of the main routes that people take in order to get to Highway 13. The streets here feel very suburban although it isn't far from Macarthur Boulevard and the retail estalishments there. This means that it's also in close proximity to the Freeways, which makes it convenient for commuters. This has always been a desirable part of town, quiet and charming with great architecture and neighbors who are involved in the community.
When driving through this area you really are able to apprecitate what a green City Oakland is. It's really amazing when you think about it....and it shows that people cared about keeping the environment healthy which is a very important thing.
